Facebook  reconfirms in 2018 an upward trend and settles once again on the first step of the social network podium.

History

Before talking about its evolution, let’s see how it was born and some data:

Facebook is a social media and social network launched on 4 February 2004, owned and managed by the company Facebook Inc., based on a software platform written in various programming languages. The site, founded in Harvard in the United States by Mark Zuckerberg and several colleagues including Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, was originally designed exclusively for Harvard University students, but was soon open to students of other schools in the Boston area, the Ivy League and Stanford University.

Users can access the service after a free registration, during which personal data such as name, surname, date of birth and email address are requested .

Facebook is not only designed for individuals and their private life but, through a dedicated service (Facebook for Business), it is also a social marketing tool.

The evolution and the marketing

Facebook was born as a way to communicate and share with other registered users, but over the years it has become an integral part of the marketing of a company that finds here its potential buyer.

This type of activity is carried out thanks to the publication of a free post , but also thanks to paid campaigns.

It is essential to create a company page that will be the board of company posts and on which you can plan promotional activities.

The promotional activities, as already mentioned, can be simple free post or paid activities.
There are two types of paid listings:

  • insertions on the single post to get more likes, comments and shares,
  • adverts on your page to get more followers.

For each campaign you can select an audience chosen on features such as location, age and interests. You can also set a campaign budget and a duration.
